Open Source Support

The implementation work runs on tooling Cristian Magherusan-Stanciu has been building for years, most of it open source. If you’d rather run that tooling yourself, we support it.

The tools

Over the years Cristian built a portfolio of open-source tools aimed at cost optimization, automating the patterns that keep recurring across engagements. AutoSpotting is the best known of them, the main open source alternative to commercial Spot tooling.

Supported builds are available on the AWS Marketplace for a small percentage of the savings they generate, which suits small and medium companies well. They are tested and stable at release, so they can be supported at scale with relatively low effort.

Support plans

Many of our largest clients prefer to run the open-source code themselves. That allows customization for their own requirements, more flexibility, and avoids the pay-as-you-grow cost of the Marketplace builds.

For those teams we offer support plans that can cover deployments at large scale, bug fixing, public feature development and private customizations.

Custom licensing

The tools are released under OSL-3, an OSI-approved license. Because it treats external deployment as distribution, derivative works you deploy have to be made available in source form under the same license, which some large companies can’t accommodate. For those cases we can re-license under a commercial license tailored to your open-source compliance requirements.
